This page will list grants awarded to New Kent Fire-Rescue from various sources, both public (federal and state government agencies) and private (businesses and non-governmental organizations).  In addition, this page will highlight the projects, equipment, training, etc. made possible by the availability of grant funding.

FEDERAL GRANTS

Program:  Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI); from the National Preparedness Directorate (NPD), United States Department of Homland Security (DHS) and administered by the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Emergency Management

2008 MCI Trailer Project; $12,307.00 – used to purchase a Mass Cassualty Incident Trailer outfitted with response equipment and supplies

2008 Satellite Phone Project; will provide one Satellite phone set-up and subscription costs to be installed in the county Emergency Operations Center (EOC), for use during emergency situations, especially in instances where other means of communication (e.g., land-line and cellular) may be compromised

2009 Citizen Preparedness (CERT) Equipment; $3,750.00 - provided a dedicated computer, digital projecter, and potable projection screen to the county CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) to support training initiatives

2009 Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE) Equipment; $13,673.41 – used to purchase equipment to allow First Responders to operate at a Hazardous Materials Operations level
